[Cars] Toyota Land Cruiser - FJ-40

Getting to an early car meet isn't easy, especially when getting there on time means waking up at 6 something and driving 40 minutes to arrive at the 8 AM call time. Having said that, we surely missed the 8 AM target. Instead, we arrived at the sight of engines revving, lining up to exit Heritage Park. Just our luck. We were already disappointed and regretting not getting there earlier.

So we decided to just walk around and check some of the cars that have decided to stay. In the front parking lot, we noticed an unfamiliar sight of Jeep's (at least to us, since Coffee and Cars is somewhat synonymous to European cars, old and new, as promoted by the organizers). We curiously approached the pack of lifted JK's and some TJ's, only to get side-tracked by a beautiful FJ-40...

... with her top down, none the less. People were instinctively drawn to this green beast, hulking over the Jeep's.

Although designed to mimic the lines of the old Jeep's, the FJ-40's design is undoubtedly more appealing, at least in our opinion, and as proven by the people stopping on their tracks to snap a photo.

There are definitely a lot of Jeep design similarities here...

Although this particular FJ has been modified.

This beast's heart is unknown... but I'm guessing the owner has stuffed a V8 in there for good measure. Possibly retained the inline 6? We'll never know.

This green of a hulking beast is surely a looker, and a stopper.

Whoever knows the owner of this FJ-40, please speak up. If you own it, definitely speak up.

  2. I luv my FJ60. Having had enough frictionless icy road adventures with short-wheelbase, high-center-of-gravity FJ40s, I want my next Cruiser to be a 60. But it’ll have to have at least a carburetor transplant. IMHO, Toyota built into its factory carbs and smog controls all the complexity that they’d carefully engineered out of the entire rest of of these vehicles! Good day!
