McCormick Place
Chicago, IL
The last part is a short collection of the cars from the Asian and American auto manufacturers. As with the previous two parts, the photos wouldn't be a comprehensive account of the whole auto show because I focused mostly on the cars that interested me at that moment. Sure, I wish I had covered more of the show, but that would have required me to be there another day. The Chicago Auto Show is that large, and I honestly think I barely scratched the surface. I hope you guys have enjoyed the photos so far, and have possibly already come up with a shortlist for your new car purchase this year.
One of the biggest, if not the biggest, displays at the auto show was Toyota's. Their influence in the automotive world is huge, and it is very evident with their showcase of current and future technologies in both their production and concept cars.
Toyota TRD Pro
The trio of newly announced TRD Pro's at the Chicago Auto Show: Tundra, 4Runner, and Tacoma.
Lexus LC500
This new model of luxury performance from Lexus is a great addition to the brand name's already impressive line-up of luxury commuter cars. With the LFA's production ending in 2012 at just 500 total cars, Lexus was devoid of a flagship performance car. The LC500 is striking in design considering how closely it resembles the concept version. Numerous unique lines and shapes are incorporated into the design making it a very intricate one, although the basic and simple lines that comprise the backbone of a sport coupe;s shape are very much evident in the car's silhouette. Initially, it will be offered with a naturally aspirated V8 similar to that of the RC F's, but eventually I think a turbocharged variant will be made available in the future. Along with the production version of the car at the show, a skeleton version with chassis and part cutouts was also on display to showcase the all-new engineering for the car.
Lexus RC F
Ford GT
Definitely one of the most anticipated cars in the few years, along with the NSX, the Ford GT looks sensational and it delivers on the hype created by both Ford and the media. The design is just as beautiful as the original GT40, but it looks about 10 times more aggressive - like a sinister version of the car from 1964 that is hungry and deprived of Snickers. Sadly, the euphonious and brute V8 has now been replaced by a more efficient and more powerful 3.5 EcoBoost V6. I am very optimistic though that the new engine will still sound amazing, but just with a different note. I can't wait to see one on the streets and on the track.
Ford Mustang GT350
5.2 L V8 goodness paired with a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission.
Ford Mustang GT350R
GT350 minus the rear seats, plus a carbon fiber spoiler and carbon fiber wheels. These GT350/R iterations are very interesting indeed. Let's pray that we won't be seeing these Mustangs wrapped around poles, just for the sake of car enthusiasts and the general population.
Ford Mustang GT Fastback
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Another mean American car out to tame those Europeans. The Z06 looks stunning in every angle, except the rear, in all honesty.
Chevrolet Camaro SS
Sitting on a new-for-Chevy Alpha platform (Cadillac ATS and CTS) along with new sheetmetal design, the 2016 Camaro looks a whole lot better and leaner.Cadillac CT6
Cadillac, you have created a very handsome car. Everything about it exudes luxury and beauty. The proportions on the car's design are perfect. This is what luxury should be, and this is what Cadillac should have always been.
Cadillac ATS-V Coupe
Cadillac has been on a roll lately with all these cars that are very difficult to find fault with. The view of the front end's hard lines and creases from above is stunning.
Cadillac CTS-V
Cadillac XT5
Lincoln Continental
Lincoln MKC
Acura NSX
Every car enthusiast wished this car would be affordable, but most were dismayed to find out during its announcement that it would be beyond their reach. The new-generation NSX has looks that could kill, and an arsenal of technology and performance bits that could rival supercars costing hundreds of thousands more. I wonder if Ayrton Senna would approve of the NSX's evolution.
